Breast Lift

Sagging breasts caused by age, pregnancy, or weight loss can make you feel self-conscious and limit your wardrobe.

Anya Kishinevsky, M.D., can create a more youthful and perky bustline through breast lift surgery (also known as mastopexy).

Why do so many patients from Bridgeport, New Haven, and Norwalk, CT, visit us for breast lifts?

A Breast Lift Addresses a Range of Issues

Sagging Breasts

If you are unhappy with sagging in your bustline, you may benefit from a breast lift. If you also want to increase your breast size, a lift can be combined with breast augmentation for dramatic results.

Typically, breasts are naturally asymmetrical to an extent. If this difference is especially noticeable, breast lift surgery can improve the balance between your breasts and create a rounder shape.

Sagging Nipples

If your nipples sit below the crease under your bustline or if they point downward, mastopexy can shift the nipples back to their proper position on the breast.

Oversized Areolas

If your areolas have become stretched or oversized, they can be adjusted and reduced during a breast lift for more flattering proportions.

What to Expect During Breast Lift Surgery

Day of Breast Lift Procedure

General anesthesia will be administered to ensure your comfort at all times during surgery.

Dr. Kishinevsky will make discreet incisions along the areolas or breast crease. The location of the incisions depends on the amount of lift desired and your overall treatment goals.

Dr. Kishinevsky will carefully reshape the breast tissue and lift it to its ideal position. The nipple will be repositioned, and any excess skin will be tightened to create a firm breast.

After the breast tissue is reshaped and lifted, your plastic surgeon will close the incisions to complete the procedure.

We will provide you with post-operative instructions for faster healing time. After swelling has subsided, the results of surgery will be apparent for you to enjoy.

Advanced Techniques for Minimal Scarring

Are you worried about scars after a breast lift? Dr. Kishinevsky has extensive training in a vertical short scar breast lift technique which minimizes scarring and recovery time. The vertical short scar technique leaves only one scar, whereas other breast lift techniques leave multiple large scars.

Our plastic surgeon takes extra care to minimize scarring and to deliver results that look natural.

Breast Lift Recovery

Following a breast lift, most women are able to return to desk work within one to two weeks, and can usually resume exercise after about a month. Here is what to expect during your breast lift recovery:

Bruising, Swelling, and Discomfort

Bruising may last as long as a month after your breast lift, and the majority of swelling subsides within three to four weeks. Discomfort can be controlled with over-the-counter pain meds. Dr. Kishinevsky will advise that you relax and avoid serious physical exertion until she determines that you are ready. This does not mean your doctor will recommend you stay on the couch all day. A key action you can take to promote blood circulation and prevent blood clots is walking every day.

Follow-up Visits

It is important to maintain a regular schedule of follow-up visits at our Norwalk office so Dr. Kishinevsky can monitor your recovery. Of course, if you have any questions or concerns you want answered outside of an appointment, feel free to reach out.

Breast Lift vs. Other Breast Procedures

Breast lifts restore perkiness, give sagging breasts renewed firmness, and provide your bust line with a rejuvenated profile.

However, it is important to note that a breast lift will not increase your breast size the way breast augmentation can, or provide the relief you could expect from breast reduction if your breasts are overly large.

During your consultation, Dr. Kishinevsky can determine whether a breast lift, a breast reduction, or breast implants are the best way to achieve the enhancements you envision. Depending on your goals and needs, a breast lift can be combined with either a breast reduction or breast augmentation.

Combine Procedures for Stunning Results

Breast Reduction

Many patients who get a breast lift also get a reduction to reach their aesthetic goals. The two procedures work together to reduce the size of larger busts and remove excess skin. Patients save time by combining treatments and only having to go through one recovery period.

Breast Augmentation

For women who are unsatisfied with the size, shape, and positioning of their breasts, we recommend combining breast lift surgery with breast implants for a complete transformation. We offer saline and silicone implants at our offices in Fairfield County.
