Your nose is the focal point of your facial features, so an upturned, misshapen, or crooked nose can dramatically affect the balance and symmetry of your face.
Anya Kishinevsky, M.D., can perform rhinoplasty to dramatically enhance the shape of your nose and even improve breathing issues.
Why do so many patients choose to undergo rhinoplasty?
Even the slightest surgical modifications to your nose can have transformative outcomes. For patients who are self-conscious of this area, the surgery can dramatically improve their quality of life.
Rhinoplasty is a very popular plastic surgery treatment, and more than 200,000 of these procedures were performed in 2017 alone. In addition to its popularity, surgery carries only a very small risk of major complications.
For many patients, cosmetic issues are accompanied by functional concerns. Rhinoplasty can help these patients breathe more easily and comfortably.

A Huge Number of Patients Have Considered Rhinoplasty
What specific issues can rhinoplasty address?
Rhinoplasty can permanently correct cosmetic concerns including bumps or uneven size on the bridge, nasal tip, or nostrils.
Surgery can also address structural issues brought on by traumatic injury, such as a car accident, or congenital issues.
Correcting Deviated Septums
According to the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, deviated septums are one of the most common causes of difficulty breathing. Dr. Kishinevsky can correct this concern by restoring proper alignment to your nasal structure.

Factors to Consider Before Undergoing Surgery
Dr. Kishinevsky can perform rhinoplasty to achieve various goals. Some patients want a straighter nose, while others want one that is larger, smaller, or differently shaped. Dr. Kishinevsky uses a variety of surgical techniques to address:
- An excessively bulbous tip
- A nose that projects too far from your face or seems too large in relation to the rest of your features
- A crooked bridge
- A tip that turns upward or downward dramatically
- A depressed bridge that dips inward toward your face
- A large bump on the bridge of your nose
- Nostrils that are too narrow or wide
If you are considering cosmetic surgery, you should:
- Be unhappy with the function or aesthetics of your nose
- Be of an age where your nose has stopped developing
- Maintain realistic, clear expectations
- Be willing to take time off of work for your recovery
- Be in good overall health

We Work Hard to Ensure Patients' Comfort
For your comfort and peace of mind, Dr. Kishinevsky performs all rhinoplasties in a private surgical center. With the help of a trusted anesthesiologist, she can ensure that you are comfortably sedated throughout your procedure.
Compared to many other cosmetic procedures, post-surgical discomfort following a rhinoplasty is also minimal. In fact, a study by the American Academy of Otolaryngology found that patients who underwent a rhinoplasty experienced minimal to moderate pain lasting only two to three days.
Here's what happens during surgery...
What techniques do we use to ensure optimal results?
Dr. Kishinevsky performs open and closed rhinoplasties. Both surgical techniques can be used to deliver dramatic results, but Dr. Kishinevsky will determine which approach is right for you based on your unique concerns.
When performed by a skilled surgeon, either technique involves minimal, discreet scarring for patients.

The Rhinoplasty Procedure
During a pre-operative consultation, Dr. Kishinevsky will ensure that she is fully clear on your goals for the procedure. Before the procedure begins, she will create small markings on your nose to use as a guide during surgery. Our on-site anesthesiologist will administer local anesthesia to numb your nose and the surrounding area and will administer intravenous (IV) sedation. You will begin to feel sleepy and relaxed, but will not be completely asleep so you can still respond to directions.
Once you are fully anesthetized, Dr. Kishinevsky will make incisions inside the nose (closed rhinoplasty) or across the thin strip of skin that separates the nostrils (open rhinoplasty). This will ensure any scarring is completely hidden from view or disguised within the natural contours of your nose.
Through these incisions, Dr. Kishinevsky will begin to make very slight modifications. She may reduce some bone or cartilage from the bridge of your nose, supplement the bridge using transplanted cartilage, or reshape the tip and nostrils. The exact techniques used during your surgery will depend upon your predetermined goals. Once treatment is complete, Dr. Kishinevsky will carefully close the incisions and apply specialized bandages.
Recovery and Aftercare
Rhinoplasty is performed on an outpatient basis, so you will return home to rest following your surgery. In the following days, you will wear a brace and bandages to protect your nose while it begins to heal. After five to seven days, you will return to Dr. Kishinevsky's office to have your bandages removed and evaluate your progress.
You can expect some bruising, swelling, and tenderness in the weeks following your surgery. You will need to refrain from activities in which your nose could be traumatized in any way. Dr. Kishinevsky will instruct you on when you can return to your normal activities and begin exercising.
