Enhance Your Beauty

Rhinoplasty

Candidacy for Rhinoplasty

There are other factors besides functional and aesthetic issues we must consider before deciding if nose surgery is right for you. Additional considerations include:

Age

Rhinoplasty is typically not performed until a patient has reached adulthood and the nose has fully developed.

Overall Health

Surgery is never recommended for patients that are in poor overall health or suffer from a serious illness.

Expectations

It is important that candidates for plastic surgery have realistic, clear expectations for the outcome of the procedure.

Recovery Time

Candidates must be able to take some time off of work to recover and limit strenuous physical activity in the weeks following surgery.

The Rhinoplasty Treatment Timeline

Make an appointment today at our conveniently located Norwalk, CT, office to begin treatment.
Rhinoplasty is typically an outpatient procedure. Most patients can return home to recover the very same day.

Consultation

During a pre-operative consultation, Dr. Kishinevsky will discuss the issues you want to address and the overall aesthetic you wish to pursue. Together, you and the doctor will develop a treatment plan based on your needs and decide what type of rhinoplasty procedure is best suited for your goals.

Sedation

On the day of the procedure, you will come to our private surgical center where we ensure your maximum comfort and care. Our on-site anesthesiologist will put you under sedation and administer local anesthesia to numb your nose and the surrounding area.

Incision

Once the anesthesia takes effect, Dr. Kishinevsky will make incisions inside the nose (closed rhinoplasty) or across the thin strip of skin that separates the nostrils (open rhinoplasty). This will ensure any scarring is completely hidden from view or disguised within the natural contours of your nose.

Refinement

Through these access points, Dr. Kishinevsky will make modifications to your nose. She may reduce some bone or cartilage from the bridge of your nose, supplement the bridge using transplanted cartilage, or reshape the tip and nostrils.

Bandaging and Recovery

Once the corrections are made, Dr. Kishinevsky will carefully close the incisions and apply specialized bandages and splints. Rhinoplasty is typically an outpatient procedure. Most patients can return home to recover the very same day.

Customizing Surgery For Your Needs The Types of Rhinoplasty

There are two rhinoplasty techniques Dr. Kishinevsky typically utilizes at her Norwalk, CT, surgical center...

Open Rhinoplasty

Open or external rhinoplasty involves a small incision across the strip of nasal tissue dividing the nostrils, referred to as a columellar incision. With open rhinoplasty, the surgeon has better visibility and access to the bone and cartilage. The procedure is usually chosen when revising complex nasal deformities or making more drastic changes to the bone structure. While the risk of cartilage distortion is minimal, there is a slight chance of visible scarring with external rhinoplasty.

Closed Rhinoplasty

With closed or endonasal rhinoplasty, Dr. Kishinevsky makes small incisions within the nose, where they will heal without visible scarring. This minimally invasive procedure is effective in achieving the desired results in most patients with straightforward cases. Due to the surgeon's visual limitations, the skin is prone to more intense stretching, which can result in cartilage distortion. However, the lack of a columellar incision allows for a faster operation and reduced swelling during the recovery period.

Absolutely fantastic. Dr. Kishinevsky and her staff, Lisa and Nikki, are wonderful. Dr. Kishinevsky was kind, thorough, and understanding. I was nervous about the procedure but she put my mind at ease and was so wonderful throughout the entire process and consistently checked in before and after. Her staff, Lisa and Nikki have also been fantastic. They're all so caring and courteous.
I'm just several weeks after my procedure but am already THRILLED with the results and can't wait to see how they continue to progress and improve.
Dr. K does wonderful work and I highly recommend her to anyone who wants a surgeon that not only does incredible work, but is a pleasure to work with as well. Thank you!!!

I went to a few consultations with different surgeons for my eyes and didn't really know what to expect.  I was recommended to  Dr. Kishinevsky by a few people and am glad I went in for a consult.  I had a completely different experience in this office.  She made me feel extremely comfortable and I could tell immediately she was very knowledgeable and  highly skilled.  She answered all my questions & made sure I had a realistic idea of what to expect with both my recovery and my results. She was very kind, understanding and patient.  Her staff is wonderful too. I highly recommend Dr. Kishinevksy

Rhinoplasty Recovery

Compared to many other cosmetic procedures, post-surgical discomfort following rhinoplasty is minimal. Here is what you can expect during your recovery...

Bandages

You will need to wear a splint and bandages to protect your nose while it begins to heal. After approximately one week, you will return to Dr. Kishinevsky's office to have the binding and nasal packing removed, as well as your progress evaluated.

Side Effects

You can expect some bruising, swelling, and tenderness in the weeks following your surgery. We can prescribe pain medication to help you with discomfort, especially in the first week.

Activity

While you should refrain from activities in which your nose could be traumatized in any way, you can resume light activity about a week after surgery. However, do not resume strenuous activity or exercise routines until given permission by the doctor. This permission is typically given around four to six weeks post-operation.

Results

While initial swelling from the procedure should fade within a few weeks, it may take up to a year before you see the final results of your surgery. This is especially true if you and Dr. Kishinevsky opt for an open-technique rhinoplasty. During the recovery period, you should notice gradual changes as the swelling continues to subside.

Aging can have an effect on the results of your procedure, but the changes made during rhinoplasty should remain relatively consistent as time passes. It is important to maintain proper sun protection and a healthy lifestyle to prevent changes to the new appearance of your nose.

How Much Does Rhinoplasty Cost?

The cost of rhinoplasty at our office in Norwalk, CT, will vary from patient to patient depending on the extent and difficulty of treatment.

It is impossible to give you a precise estimate until we see you for a consultation. Of course, it is important to remember that you pay for the experience and skill of your surgeon, and choosing a recognized expert like Dr. Kishinevsky is worth the investment to ensure the best results.

Financing Available

We offer financing and payment plans to help our patients afford plastic surgery.

Nonsurgical Alternatives

If you have only minor aesthetic concerns and do not feel ready for surgery, Dr. Kishinevsky may be able to help you reach your goals with nonsurgical alternatives. Our patients throughout Connecticut will often choose to improve the shape of their nose using dermal fillers. Fillers can be used to provide more symmetry to an area affected by injury or add dimension to a flattened nasal bridge or tip.
