Breast Reduction Provides Consistently Positive Results

Breast reductions can address a variety of physical concerns...

A Breast Reduction Can Address A Range of Issues

Chronic Discomfort

Large breasts can cause severe neck, shoulder, and back pain, skin irritation, and skeletal deformities, among other problems.

Restricted Lifestyle

Excess breast tissue can restrict your lifestyle, keeping you from being as active as you want to be.

Self-Esteem Issues

Oversized breasts can make your figure appear disproportionate and make you feel self-conscious.

Candidates for Breast Reduction Surgery

Women who wish to alleviate the discomfort and pain associated with moderate-to-large or sagging breasts are ideal candidates for breast reduction surgery. Dr. Kishinevsky suggests that women who opt for breast reduction surgery wait until after their breasts become fully developed before undergoing the procedure. Patients should also postpone breast reduction surgery until after having children because pregnancy and breastfeeding may alter the shape and size of the breast.

For men who wish to reduce their breast size, Dr. Kishinevsky also offers effective solutions for gynecomastia that help men affected by the condition achieve the appearance of a flat, firm chest.

The Breast Reduction Consultation

Breast reduction surgery candidates will meet with Dr. Kishinevsky for a pre-surgery consultation to discuss the risks and complications of the procedure. Dr. Kishinevsky will also evaluate their goals and expectations for the breast reduction surgery, as well as address all questions and concerns to make sure they are completely comfortable before the surgery starts.

Vertical Short-Scar Breast Reduction Procedure

Dr. Kishinevsky offers patients from Norwalk, Westport, Greenwich, New Canaan, and other Connecticut areas the vertical short scar breast reduction technique which provides natural-looking results and reduced scarring. Also known as the LeJour breast reduction technique, vertical short scar breast reduction uses incisions that extend around the areola and vertically down to the breast crease. The "lollipop" incision eliminates the need to create a horizontal incision along the breast crease, and the resulting scar can be easily hidden under swimsuits and low-cut tops. Tissue, fat, and skin are removed from the breast area before the incision is sutured. The entire breast reduction surgery takes a few hours, and results in a more natural-looking bustline.

Recovery Following Breast Reduction Surgery

The recovery process can be quite long. Dr. Kishinevsky provides patients with post-operative instructions to ensure a smooth recovery with optimal results. Bruising and swelling of the breasts are typical within the first two weeks following breast reduction surgery. Patients are advised not to do any strenuous activity such as lifting for several weeks because it can interfere with the healing process. Most patients are able to return to work within 10 to14 days following breast reduction surgery; however, full recovery may take as long as six months to a year.

Breast Reduction Surgery Results

Dr. Kishinevsky's patients are typically pleased with their breast reduction results. Many patients feel the slightly longer recovery time is a fair trade-off for the alleviation of pain, discomfort, and embarrassment that they would have experienced the rest of their lives because of large breasts.
