What Issues Are Addressed through Rhinoplasty?

Can I Undergo Rhinoplasty?

During a consultation, Dr. Anya Kishinevsky will conduct a thorough evaluation to determine if surgery is right for you. In general, candidates must:

Will Insurance Cover Rhinoplasty?

Health insurance will cover the cost of many procedures addressing practical needs, but will not contribute to the cost of surgeries performed for purely cosmetic purposes. If you have been injured or have breathing difficulties that could be resolved through rhinoplasty, your insurance plan will likely contribute to at least a portion of the cost. However, if you are undergoing the procedure solely to improve your appearance, insurance will not cover any of your expenses. Fortunately, financing options can make cosmetic rhinoplasty affordable on most budgets.

How Much Downtime Will I Need? How Long Does It Take to Heal?

You will want to take at least a week off of work or school to recover. Most of the swelling subsides after about two months, but you should know that it can take up to a year for the swelling to completely subside.

Will There Be Visible Scars?

It depends on the refinements you need. “Closed rhinoplasty” is an approach in which all incisions are made on the inside of the nose, resulting in scars that won’t be visible to others after you heal. “Open rhinoplasty” means that an incision is created between the nostrils. When you choose an experienced and reputable surgeon, you can expect that the resulting scar will fade considerably and will be virtually unnoticeable to those around you.
